DIG DEEP
Official Music Video
OUT NOW
12th October 2021
"Dig Deep'' was written during Aotearoa's first lockdown in 2021 when we were in isolation. A song about entering into those dark parts of ourselves we often choose not to visit. A needed deep excavation to come out a better more evolved version of self. Once again, we find ourselves in another lockdown, and so with the emerging Spring; so will we all emerge from our chrysalis. This is DIG DEEP.

"Every Day we are dying - to be loved." The making of this one-shot music video was made possible with the aroha and awhi of an amazing collection of dancers choreographed by Kia Jewell. Our amazing first time camera operator Alex Wong directed by our own Nikita 雅涵 Tu-Bryant, the incredible art Projectionist Erica Sklenars (aka Lady Lazer Light) and a one man production team James Cottrell along with make up and hair artist Veronica Zhou.

This album is collectively our time capsule of 2020, most of the songs written in isolation from each other during lockdown. It has been a beautiful and emotional journey piecing these together.
PRIVATE LIVES
Single and Music Video
OUT NOW
April 7th 2021
In the same vein as Massive Attack’s suburban groove and social commentary in the mid 90’s, KITA have captured the rhythm and heartbeat of suburban Pōneke; a city abuzz with a vibrant music and dramatic performance scene in their brand new track and official video, ‘Private Lives’.
Weaving together elements of vintage rock, pop and soul, and warm hints of synth, KITA have created a skin-prickling piece of magic with ‘Private Lives’, a deeply beautiful track penned in 2020’s lockdown, that delves into the unknown of what happens when the blinds are shut – the parts of life that are unseen by others.
"Standing from my kitchen window during lockdown in Aotearoa, sinister thoughts entered my mind about what could be happening behind closed doors for people”, says front-woman Nikita 雅涵 Tu- Bryant.
The video tells the story of a father and daughter’s relationship amongst snapshots of everyday life and its monotonous anonymity, while things aren’t always what they appear on the surface. Late at night the father can finally reveal his true self, adorning makeup and sequins, only to be spied by his daughter. The two then share a special moment of dressing up and dancing together, a true celebration of individuality, selflove and the beauty of self-expression.
The band, featuring exceptionally talented members Nikita 雅涵 Tu- Bryant, Ed Zuccollo (The Black Seeds, Trinity Roots, Troy Kingi, Hollie Smith), and Rick Cranson (Little Bushman), generate a beguiling sound formed of their many experiences and influences, a perfect example of multi-genre fusion with deep roots. Their self-titled debut album, produced by Grammy Award-winning Tommaso Colliva (Muse, Razorlight), is due for release May 2021.
KITA, IMUGI 이무기 & ZUKE
KITA and Zuke will be sharing a night with Imugi 이무기 at Auckland Fringe Town as part of the Auckland Fringe Festival. It will be held in the Auckland Town Hall and will be a look into some of the new material that will be released on the upcoming KITA album, due later this year, as well as some new material from the bass-wizard Zuke. The Town Hall will be transformed into a visual spectacle with projections by Naomi Lamb of The Wanderer Productions and lighting design by Auckland Live.

KITA stands with GREENPEACE & GLASTONBURY
June 19th 2020
There's a lot of mahi (work) to be done in our World.
It became even more apparent during our time in Isolation with this Pandemic sweeping across our Planet.
Whether it be to plant more trees, the air clearing due to a pause on the traffic, or simply to be more compassionate to one another despite our differences.
There's a lot of mahi to be done in our World with ethnic relations, discrimination, understanding of different circumstances and a willingness to learn or to be challenged - and I believe it always begins with the individual. We continue to Hope for a better World even when we aren’t quite sure what a Better might look like.
We are proud to be celebrating the 50th birthday of GREENPEACE and GLASTONBURY with their online Greenpeace at Glastonbury Online Festival - Action All Areas. A festival that has had to be put on hold in its’ physical form due to the pandemic.
We hope to continue to spread our ideas of Hope and Love to as many people around the World.
Here is us opening the Festival after the Launch on DAY 1 of Action All Areas, shot by Shyam Patel, lit by Nic Cave-Lynch and Kat of Many Hands Lighting, from Ed’s room in Newtown, Wellington.
Pitch up a Virtual Tent and support the cause!

‘Try To Find a Way’ official music video launch
May 12th 2020
The ‘Try To Find a Way’ music video was made whilst NZ was in Level 4 of the COVID-19 related lockdown. What that meant for many of us was that we were isolated from friends and family, and unable to travel far from home. Supermarket trips and chats to the checkout operator could bring an energy that we hadn’t felt in some weeks - that feeling of getting along with someone you just met. Far out. We missed each other a lot. This music video is the result of people sending videos of themselves in their lockdown situations for us to use; edited together by the wonderful Mark Russell of Renegade Peach. Seeing these videos gave us the feeling of togetherness in this time of enforced isolation. That we were all contributing to the same hopeful end of seeing each other again - dancing together, eating together. Friends and community were sorely missed but we also wanted to be careful and make sure that this wasn’t all for nothing - nobody wanted to head back into full isolation again. 'Try To Find a Way’ is a song about perseverance, hope and finding a way through. We wanted to show the group effort of staying home, which was evident by the eerily empty streets. We wanted to see our friends and know how they were spending their time. It was a lovely process, receiving videos from all around the world. A huge thank you to all the contributors for making this video what it is - a document of togetherness through mass isolation. Lots of love and wishing you all the best things in these challenging times.

Recording with Grammy award winning producer Tommaso Colliva
Feb 4th 2020
In December we had renowned record producer Tommaso Colliva come to NZ to work on a recording with us. We spent six days in The Armoury studio and tracked five songs. Working with Tommaso was amazing! We learned so much from the way he prioritised things, streamlined workflow and added in his own ideas whilst retaining our vibe and flavour. Currently the tracks are in mix stage and we are loving the results and are so looking forward to sharing them.
